NX3000 Shutter Speed Control?

There are circumstances (particularly when filming through the propellor at the front of my aircraft) where advice I have seen is to keep the shutter speed low as this will reduce the effects of Rolling Shutter and stop the weird propellor shapes appearing in the video.

I can set the camera to S mode and then start to record video, but does anyone know if it then actually uses the shutter speed that was set in this mode? It's not obvious whether this is used or if it uses whatever shutter speed it wants. Obviously there must be some limits in both directions, for example if the camera is shooting 25fps (which it does for PAL) the longest period the shutter could be opened between frames would be 1/25s, but I can set the shutter speed to much longer than that.

Any ideas?
