It would be helpful if you would state what you felt was wrong, and identify the lens , and show an example.

No knowing exactly the problem, but based on GX7, GM1, G5 and G1 experience here are some points:

Within these next two constraints below, set the shutter speed as high as possible, above 1/1000 preferably:

- ISO between 200 and 800 (1600 if you must)

- Aperture about 1 or 1.5 stop below the maximum e.g. if the zoom lens is capable of F3.5 at your focal length setting, use F5.0 or F5.6. If F.6 is the widest aperture (lowest F number) at your focal length setting, use F6.3 or F7.1

Also:

- Aperture number never above F8.0

- Use electronic shutter wherever possible, but especially between 1/60s and 1/200s

- Set format to highest quality JPEG

- Image stabilization set on (unless using a tripod)

- Use VIVID image type (or increase saturation, but not both)

- Use Adobe RGB color space if your computer is a Mac or if your PC is setup to handle color spaces, otherwise sRGB.

- Check that the Autofocus area is the smallest square, or second smallest square, and set in the center of the viewfinder
