Focusing too close? Surely one focuses at the distance to compose the shot, no? In all seriousness, I wanted to focus that close to maximise the background blur.

As for the lens issue, yes I remarked on that in my post but the way I figure it, the sensor is in the same place so if I move the camera back to reframe one of the images then it wouldn't be fair for that particular lens.

Personally I don't think a centimetre or so difference (which is probably all that would be needed to re-frame the shot) would make any difference to the results. That's only a 1% difference in length over a metre, but, I could redo the tests if there's enough interest.
