Why they don't 3D cameras anymore?

Re: Why they don't 3D cameras anymore?

I suspect a major part of the problem lies in the viewing.  Viewing photos in stereo requires an excellent viewer and a patient "viewer" wanting to be amazed.  2D prints  are immediately accessible to an individual and even groups of viewers.  When I would show my slides, a handful would get it right away and want more, but others seemed to find it inconvenient to look with both eyes, hold down the button for the light and focus the slide in the viewer.  Yet others found in annoying trying to do this with glasses.

The other issue is processing the slides or 3d prints and mounting them properly for viewing.  It is rapidly becoming a lost art.

In this age of immediate gratification there isn't much room for individual effort in either taking or viewing 3D.  Everyone is waiting for a process that requires no effort in the taking and even less effort in the viewing.

I'd love to get back into it, if some one could suggest a company that still processes slide film.  I still have the mounting supplies.    Of course I have a dozen 3d cameras that will probably need a good cla by now.  :   )
