Re: EOS M10 User Manual PDF
One of the many things I like better about the EOS M's UI over the M3's more PowerShot feel, is how one changes ISO settings.
With my M, you can make full use of the touchscreen and use your finger to slide up and down the scale, or just tap on the value you wanted, or you can press the on-screen left/right arrow buttons to adjust the setting. And if touching the screen isn't your thing, once in 'adjust ISO mode' you can also spin the rear physical dial to move the setting up or down or you could use the physical left/right buttons (on the rear control dial) to adjust the setting. That's five different ways, something for everyone! All very intuitive and consistent with changing other camera settings.
With my M3 - oh man, what a downgrade. Many of the touchscreen UI controls were removed completely, to include adjusting ISO. In fact, out of the above mentioned methods, only one is possible on the M3 - adjusting the value by spinning the rear physical dial. My old brain STILL wants to sometimes press the left button (aka the Manual Focus/MF button) to lower ISO, and i get presented with that dreaded MF mode icon!!!
I don't personally have any interest in the M10. BUT I'm happy to see (on page 65) that the touchscreen UI controls for adjusting ISO are BACK! Drag your finger on the scale - check! press the left/right on-screen buttons - check! It also appears that the physical left/right buttons are (re)enabled for adjusting the ISO value down/up - YES!!!
I hope this change (improvement for me) finds its way into all future generations of the M.
