G7 - Rotate image when reviewing?

Hi... new to this forum so please be patient...

After years of using Canon DSLRs, I decided to augment my equipment with something smaller and lighter, which is of course why I bought the G7. I'm very pleased with the performance and handling so far, as well as the quality of the photos. I do have a couple of questions for which I can't seem to find answers, so hopefully someone will be able to enlighten me.

For reference sake, so far I have the following lenses:

Lumix G X Vario 12-35mm f/2.8

Lumix G Vario 14-140mm f/3.5-5.6

When viewing photos, all of the recent Canons that I've used have automatically rotated portrait shots to fit the viewscreen when the camera was rotated accordingly. So far, I've been unable to get the G7 to do the same thing. I do RTFM and I used it to research this question. It says that you go to the Playback menu and set the Rotate Disp. item to ON. But even with the camera set to that, the images don't rotate automatically.

I realize that you can do rotate the photo manually, but that requires more button pushing that I don't want to waste time on if at all possible.  After all, when there are lots of photos to take, you want to review your shots as quickly as possible.

Can anyone tell me if there's some trick to this? Am I misunderstanding how this feature is supposed to work? Might I have the settings wrong?

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!
