I recall when I purchased my 40-150. It was January and I remember going online to shop for some warm socks, except when I woke up there was a receipt in my e-mail tray for the lens. I have no idea how it got there, but I immediately forgot about it. Then a week later a large box arrived - and it was so lovely to use that I promptly forgave my hand for slipping on the keyboard on the fateful day when I accidentally spent a huge sum of money.

A good story.

Definitely versatile because it's beautiful for portraits and of course very good for nature photography with the TC. I'm sure you will love it and I'll look forward to seeing the results. I will say that it is an incredibly sharp lens - perhaps a little too sharp for my tastes, but very impressive. That said, I still kept my Pana 100-300 because the extra reach can be very handy at times.

The 100-300 is very compact and light for its 600mm eq. reach.  body + lens is about 2 lbs. That was most welcome on a recent trip where most of our wldlife photos were taken on crowded river cruises or from our car.
