Well...

Don't go dropping your camera, that will give you problems - and they will not be specifically addressed to "this particular model".

Read your manual - in special, parts about the AF-system, which is highly advanced - and be familiar to the settings. The D5300 is not a point-and-shoot camera, though it can be used as - but a camera, that can be customized in several ways.

Not being familiar to your cameras settings will too give you problems, that is neither addressed to "this particular model".

One example - having AE-L/AF-L set to AF-ON in the Customize Menu will remove the AF-function from the shutter-button.
