I'm planning to buy my daughter her first DSLR for photo and video (she's an actor, interested in film) for graduation/birthday/Christmas...

What are the pros and cons of the Rebel T6s vs. the 70D, especially for video? I'll almost certainly buy the 18-135mm STM asa her all-purpose lens.

70D all the way.  Excellent stills camera, and a truly amazing video camera.  The dual-pixel AF is unmatched, and the touchscreen truly enhances this.

If she is into true video production utilizing manual lenses and exotic codecs, then a dedicated pro video camera might be in the offing someday.  However short of that the 70D is still top dog even 2 years later.

Various still samples can be found here...
