You see it in C-AF+H-seq while shooting. You get nice roundish area shown.
You see it with m4/3 after firmware 3.0. But as I said, only when you take images. Even the HDR and exposure bracketing modes shows that PDAF area when taking images.
No video please. But do provide a clear and concise list of camera settings and actions which will permit others to reproduce the behavior you claim to have observed.
Should be easy and clear.....
FRI13 -I just finished Darrell Young's very comprehensive book on the EM1. He clearly states several times with photos that show the 37 point pattern, that it is only visible if you use FT lenses with the adapter and not MFT lenses. I believe the MFT lenses use the same 37 points for PDAF and the remainder of the 81 points are CDAF, , but one never sees the 37 points distinctly as with FT lenses.
So You say You don't see this either?
I repeat. PDAF sensors has that 37 focus points that are scattered to the area as was shown in the GIF I added.
You will see the PDAF area used when shooting with C-AF+H-seq mode or when using Exposure Bracketing (in-camera HDR modes included) when using a m4/3 objectives.
You can choose any PDAF focus point for focusing and PDAF is used to the area the PDAF sensors covers (logically). And when you use the C-AF+Trk then PDAF is used without tracking if in H-seq. If using L-seq then tracking is used as CDAF is used as only option (C-AF+Trk requires CDAF).
When you have the firmware 3.0 of later you will see on live view the PDAF focus group while shooting when you have C-AF+H-seq or those exposure bracketing modes (HDR or like 7F 2EV) as only PDAF is used in that group area. And that was shown as well on the video with the 4/3 objective, but it is as well with m4/3 objectives.
Roundish PDAF focus group with m4/3 objectives for PDAF-only focusing.
