6D Multicontroller failure?

Further up this thread I posted that I sent the camera to Canon in Irvine, CA, and they replaced the multicontroller for $234 and replaced the LCD's too.

If this ever happens again I will try putting it in a plastic bag with rice and see if that fixes it. If it doesn't I will try spraying with isopropyl alcohol. If that doesn't work, I will spray it with WD40 (Water Displacement 40). If that doesn't work, I will try taking it apart myself since it is out of warranty and I have nothing to lose.

I had used my 6D in light drizzle and I'm pretty sure that caused the problem. However, I wonder why the problem was intermittent for the following year.
