Remember 4/3s and m43s is essentially a half frame system.

It is a quarter frame system.

Even if the image projected DID cover the entire film plane of a 35 mm camera, it would include significant portions on the edge of the projected image. Portions not optimised for use in a camera by the lens maker.

I suspect the edge quality of the image captured on 35mm film would not be consistently good.

What makes the OP idea impossible is that the distance from mount to sensor is way too long in the old film camera so cannot focus on anything but very closeup, plus due to the smaller image circle then large parts of the closeup results would be rubbish.

Plus of course, who can find where to process film these days? My freezer load of film of all types is due to hit the rubbish bin as it is of no possible use to me now.

Forget film, it's truly dead and buried now. The 16MP sensors get way better results than any 35mm film. From my early experiments I found that at about 8MP the results were looking better than film, then at 12MP way better, at 16MP then out of this world compared to film.
