Try a different background. Most black backgrounds will be dark gray if illumiinated by the flash. Instead go to your local fabric stone and buy some black velvet. The stuff sucks light and should appear black. In addition, if you are shooting a white car, you can select the black using Photoshop, and then reduce the exposure in the selected part until it is black.
