What do you think?

I have owned my LX7 for three years. It is capable of very fine results. Having a 24-90mm f/1.4-2.3 zoom built in is so so handy!

Every camera is a compromise, so be completely aware:

  • LX7 is an ISO 200 and lower camera. Move to ISO 400 and higher and results get poor quickly. With f/1.4 at the wide end, higher ISO is not often necessary.
  • The 1/1.7 sensor does not hold up well to extensive post processing work. If you shoot jpegs and do not manipulate the photos a lot, you are good to go.

On the other hand:

  • You can get a filter adapter and use a protective lens filter or polarizing filter. Very nice. That is an important feature that caused me to look at the LX7 in the first place.
  • An optional EVF is available. I use it all the time.

Enjoy whatever choice you make.

Good for a 1/1.7 camera? Yes.

Handles well again for a small compact? Yes.

Extraordinary? No. The sensor really ain't all that in anything but perfect light.
