Re: How about advanced Panasonic compacts for pocketability and fast Leica lenses.

I would also recommend a Panasonic LX5 or LX7 for small compact with fast Leica lens for personal use very good in low light (because of the lens, these are f2 - LX5 and f 1.4 lenses - LX7 ), or also not bad in moderate room light without use of flash. Set the ISO limit to 400 iso and with the fast lens, the image quality is near m43 in general light to moderate low light as up to 400 iso noise in low light is very minimal and Leica lens is very very sharp. If absolute image quality is not totally important as this is a 1/1.7 sensor in LX5 and LX7, either of these are miles ahead of phone cameras or the older 1/2 inch sensors compacts.

m43 is better in very low light over 800iso to 1600iso but also bigger lenses than the LX5/7.

I love my LX5 for family use, and the weight is so light I barely notice the weight. The used market for lightly used would be low price likely around $300. for one of these cameras which originally retailed at $500. Bought my used LX5 a few years back at $350. and I thought worth it at the time. Solid and well built camera. My wife also loves it, but I use it just as much, when not using m43 or DSLRs.
