Are you talking cameras in general will break or wear out in 5 years, or Sony cameras specifically? Asking, because, I have yet to own a digital camera that has...worn out or died...(knock on wood).

Whatever the case, I have no inclination of trashing any digital camera...then again, I have a thing for antique cameras (look below) so I may be in the minority but throwing out cameras? Just not my thing.

My thinking and experience is that any camera can be broken. It only takes one careless drop. And the shutters on most digital cameras outside of high end will only last 4 to 5 years if you put a large number actuations.

If I drop my E-PL1, E-PL5 or E-M5 Mk 2 and the body is broken, there is a good chance that the lens won't also break.

And when the gx10 is on bargain basement sale 4 years from now, you buy it for $200 bucks and use all of your old lenses.
