Don't get the Sony. Get any small MFT body (or a Nikon J series) and the collapsible zoom and pancakes. You'll be upgrading the body in 5 years times and keeping the lenses that you buy.

Meanwhile, the Sony will break or wear out in 5 years time, and it will go into the trash.

Are you talking cameras in general will break or wear out in 5 years, or Sony cameras specifically? Asking, because, I have yet to own a digital camera that has...worn out or died...(knock on wood).

Yes, digital cameras can last a long time so I wouldn't assume it will be junked in five years, depending on level of usage. My nine year old daughter was permitted to use my old E-PM2 and she managed to pretty quickly junk the camera, otherwise I could have sold that one to the OP.

To the OP: bryanbrun's advice addresses the main point: it is better to consider "pocketability" as a relative concept rather than an absolute one. If you are absolutely sold on fitting the camera in your pocket, sure a premium compact makes a lot of sense. But better IQ can be attained from a m43 interchangeable lens camera for far less money . . . if you are willing to go a little larger in size. I would recommend the E-PM2 with its kit lens for the value.
