Re: Meikon housings?

I got an Ikelite for my Sigma DPM line of compacts.  I have two other Ikelite housings for DLR's.  My compact housing is great. Everything works very very well and I couldn't be happier.  I have done 20 or 30 dives with it to over a  hundred feet. I have the dome port and the alignment is perfect.  I have taken it off and on underwater. Ikelite stands behind their products a 110%  (yes that well).

A couple of general comments.  Spring-operated buttons will begin to corrode with minerals eventually. They can be disassembled (at least with Ikelite) and cleaned quite easily.  Mojo's review mentioned the shutter button sticking. In addition to soaking in fresh water, I do 50 reps on each button when submerged (in fresh water).  This (should) gets rid of some or all of the salt water that is around the shafts and the outside part of the channel that holds the shafts.

I also don't lube my O-ring that often.  I just make sure that the surface is clean If I have to remove it, I wipe it with a lint-free cloth.  O-ring grease is sticky and tends to gather dust particles. Now I know I am in the minority on this but have never had a flood since I started doing this.
