Really? I could not replace my G15 with one of those. 70mm is not long enough. The EVF is fiddly. There are less manual controls. There is no hot shoe....
Yep I agree 100%. The G15's 28-140mm f/1.8-2.8 lens, hot shoe, viewfinder, and external controls are the reasons I selected the G15 over the other Enthusiast Zoom Compact Cameras at the time.
Have you looked at the Olympus Stylus 1s? 28-300mm constant f/2.8. B&H Photo has the Stylus 1s for $599.99.
Grant the Stylus 1s bigger than G16, but smaller than the G3X and has a large EVF that's received very good reviews.
As discussed in this topic, wonder if Canon, Olympus, and Panasonic will release any new enthusiasts pocketable compacts.
What's wrong with the G7X? Wow.
Did say not anything "wrong" with the G7 X. My reply was to arrow501's post which arrow501 noted wanting a camera with EVF and hot shoe -- G7 X has neither.
I preferred...
For "myself" for a enthusiasts pocketable would want one with built-in EVF and a hot shoe.
Fair enough, but I must say you have some large pockets! The g7x is not terribly small and is a bit heavy, imho. I feel the same way about Evfs and hotshoes but had to adjust to life without them. So at least I do appreciate the slightly smaller form factor as an acceptable compromise. But I understand those whose preferences differ. As an aside, I did have a Fuji x100 but had to sell it because its focus was so abysmal. I must say my g7x is far superior in that regard.
