Ticked off.
2

No, not ticked off about all the current forum angst, but I did get a tick off my body.

Innocently removing spring weeds from my lawn in Sydney and later noticed an itch and lump on my back. Tried the new way of wart remover to freeze and kill but the little blighter still was holding on, even though presumed dead. Some effort with tweezers removed the little critter and here he is....

Cropped savagely and resized from a 1:1 frame from the 60mm, the thing on the right is the sharp(?) end of a wooden toothpick. He's tiny, the naked eye sees him as a spot of dust. Sitting on soft tissue paper.

Tried to get a bit closer and employed my old (1959 vintage) Reichert lab microscope with an ancient Exakta microscope to camera adapter plus an Exakta to M4/3 adapter to the E-P5......

Resized to 560 wide and shown is the full frame of the shot.

Microscopy is all about the lighting (bad here) and all about the atom thick depth of field. Later experiments would be to try focus stacking, but not worth trying until I get the lighting sorted.

The only lens in the light path is the Reichert objective of 4x with a numerical aperture of 0.08, as for focal length, who knows, doesn't seem to figure when using microscopes.

Hey, I do have an Olympus 100X immersion objective for my microscope so there is a family connection to the forum apart from the E-P5 shots.

Summary, ticks are bad but looking at them can be interesting.

Regards.... Guy
