no eye sensor!

Now that you're over the initial shock, does it affect your photography?

That's a good question, and I did wonder if maybe it would not matter in practice.  Would Canon have removed it if people were finding it useful?

My other camera is a Fuji X20, which has an LCD and an optical viewfinder and an eye sensor.  When it was new, there were a few occasions when it seemed that the eye sensor was not working. "That's annoying", I thought, as I could definitely see the LCD image in my peripheral vision.  Subsequently I realised that the LCD was always on in macro mode (when paralax makes thr optical viewfinder less useful), and that when I thought the eye sensor was not working, in fact I had accidentally left the camera in macro mode.  So now I know that if the LCD is visible in my peripheral vision when I'm using the viewfinder, I need to check the settings.

How I would find this on a DSLR is a different question, but I didn't need to risk it - I bought the 760D.
