zeiss is always rated above canon for contrast and sharpness. However i always prefer canons for bokeh quality specially for 50 1.2, 85 1.2 and 135. Also in this digital age i personally am not a fan of manual lenses just my personal taste. I am not sure weather the 100 ziess is manual or not. But at the end of the day we all love what we do and we all have our own personal preference. I am happy you spent time going through my review and shared ur findings.

Happy shooting mate.

i can't speak for canon 85 f1.2 because i don't have it, however,  i get a great return on investment on my "purple ridden CA on the fringe" 85 f1.8 this modest 85mm lens can produce some sharp photos!

on the zeiss 100mm f2.0 planar makro lens, this is not not a joke lens to take lightly! it is a manual focus lens but i didn't purchase it for action photog. for portrait and static situation (including landscape), it beats any lens i have tried. the micro contrast and sharpness are outstanding. construction and focus mechanism (speed) are super. when you hold ziess lenses, you know you have got your money's worth. i can't say that for others except for canon's big white primes!

regards.
