I used G7X during my trip in Europe and the camera performed very well even inside in dark conditions.
That's nice to hear, Aodi. And no surprise! It is curious to me that it seldom gets any respect. It is a fine camera and a good choice for those seeking a replacement for an earlier model G-camera.
I've had both. Image quality from the G7X as expected with it's 20 mp 1" sensor is better than the G16. It is great in low light, but so is the G16. The big difference is noticed when you want to crop tightly or make pirints over 16X20. Two big things caused me to return it and go with the G16.
Biggest was handling. It was almost impossible for me to pick it up quickly and shoot with one hand. Even with two hands I frequently hit the buttons on the right back side with the edge of my right hand below the thumb. I have small/medium hands. Occasionally I would bump teh screen with my thumb also thereby accidentally re-setting the focus point.
My other big complaint was the screen washed out in bright conditions, including bright overcast midday. Even with the brightness set to full. Lack of EVF/OVF (as maligned as the G16's OVF is) when you really want to grab a shot was frustrating.
If the GX7's ergonomics fit me better and the screen was less prone to washout or EVF/OVF was provided I would have kept it.
Those sound like fair criticisms, Scruff. I put up with the small ergonomics in exchange for being able to put the G7X in my pocket. I also prefer an EVF/OVF but see that they add lots of bulk and some weight and, in the case of the Sony RXIV, some complexity and vulnerability to breakage. Horses for courses.
