well, this is a refreshing thread indeed.

at first I was half expecting to read another "my camera/piece/thingy just mysteriously fell apart/broke/doesn't work and i don't know why because i always baby my cameras/pieces/thingies" thread.

Well, I don't baby my "PRO" grade equipment that is meant to be used. Olympus states that it is tough and that is one of the reason I bought it. I obvious try to not throw it on the ground, but if you use equipment (at least if I do) accidents happen.

glad to read about your great service from Olympus on the prior occasion. I hope you receive the same this time around.

I was really surprised by Olympus when I called because I wanted to know how much it would cost to repair it and they just said that its within their guarantee. I can't remember the exact words (and it wasn't english), but the clark said something like: "Our PRO equipment is meant to endure severe environments. I apologize that it didn't in your case. Send it in and we will repair it."

let us know what happens.

Thanks,

I will call them tomorrow and see what they say. I just moved to another country and here Olympus has a different organization. Don't really know about that a lot, but there is some kind of "Central Europe Olympus" and "Scandinavian Olympus" (maybe more?). Hopefully they have the same attitude as where I lived before
