You know, those reviews mean nothing if the lens you have on the body you have misbehaves. I had the Sigma 85/1.4 and it was so bad at AF that was unusable. The MA needed depended strongly on the distance to the subject, and it was not even consistent. On the other hand, lenstip say:

Already at the very beginning we noticed the right mechanism calibration because the lens focuses at the right point precisely and didnt have any front or back focus tendencies.

You know, your experience with the Sigma 85/1.4 doesn't generalize to all Sigmas.

I know. My point was that the positive lehstip review did not make the Sigma 85/1.4 I tried any better. So responding to somebody (not me) who had problems with Sigma with a lenstip quote could not change his experience.

I also had issues with the Sigma 85/1.4, which I think are particularly due to largely uncorrected optical aberrations.

No such problems with the 35/1.4 Art, save for a massive AF microadjustment. Precision though? Very high. Accuracy? Not so much.

But that's quite different from being 'rubbish'.

I never use(d) that word. I would rather use its American equivalents like crap, BS, etc., depending on the context, when needed.
