I bougt the Sigma 18-35 Art in August 2013. Great optics, rubbish AF. Divested myself of that liability recently. Sigma, no more. In the articulate words of George W Bush, "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice...ahem...uh...i won't get fooled again."

I had the Sigma 18-35 Art for a couple of weeks.  The AF was inconsistent, which was unnerving.  Front/back focusing can be addressed.  I'm not sure what to do about getting a tack-sharp exposure in one sample and an out-of-focus sample the next under completely identical conditions!

I had the 35L and now the Sigma 35 Art.  The 35L was a wonderful lens, but the CA was enormous and a pain to deal with.  The Sigma Art--I have it in a Nikon mount--, by contrast, is essentially flawless and that includes AF.

If I were looking for a 35mm prime in a Canon mount, I'd make due with the 35IS or possibly consider a second Sigma.  I don't need a sharper lens at 35mm.  Bokeh is not a concern for me at this focal length, and the Sigma's colors are excellent.  So even if the Canon is better, I seriously doubt that it will be enough better to tempt me.
