i am not sure about that, i notice that delay in my new 100-400mmII and my big white primes (600mm f4.0/300 f2.8) lenses. i do have to press on shutter button half way to set my lens/camera get ready for shooting (to pass that clicking and focus delay). it can be a bummer because i have missed some humming bird shots because of this nasty feature. also i had to deal with moon shots with my 600mm f4II. i finally learned to go manual with focus, IS, and everything else to shoot stationary subjects for focus accuracy purpose.

Are you trying to say that you want the camera to *instantly* take the pic, a  billionth of a second after you first touch the shutter button?  If you own the 300 and 600, I'd expect you to have more of an understanding of how cameras have worked, since SLR's were introduced back in the 60's?...

"Nasty feature"...
