On-sensor PDAF does NOT need calibration either (what for?).

Are you sure?

I can't explain what for, but I've been around long enough know that higher end DSLRs have the ability for the end user to fine tune the precision for PDAF focusing with specific lenses.

The 5Dii was the last DSLR I've used (but it's been 5 years now since last using it) - I don't recall that model had that ability, but I'm not quite sure (if it did I just dismissed it at the time).

DSLRs need it because the light path to the AF module is different from the light path the the sensor, and also, I think, because they often use IR for AF, which focuses at a different plane than visible light does.

Mirrorless cameras have the same light, and the same light path, for AF and image capture.

A7 with kit lens and a number of legacy lenses (mostly Canon FD); A3000 converted to IR.
