Is the EM-1 still a good choice? Or better waiting for an update?

truth be told i didnt like the EM1 at first

i bought it for lens mounting capability, to accompany the venerable sony rx1.

it arrived with a lower grade lens (others were still shipping), and i did not like viewing the pictures at 100%. soft, and not noisy at base iso 200 but rather splotchy in color.

other truth was that i was an amateur twiddling around with JPEG because i was afraid of RAW.

in RAW, one can get much more pleasing results than the olympus jpeg formula in terms of noise vs detail balance. further, ive gone to do rather large prints, and whatever pixel-level deficiencies exhibited on the monitor is not apparent in real life on ink.

now i consider myself very advanced, but not yet to the point where my camera limits my "art". i also havent touched the rx1 in a long time.

THE em1 has had a pretty long run for modern day electronics, and surprisingly there havent been any leaks or talks of a new flagship in the olympus/m43 sphere. on one hand im curious to see whats next...on the other hand its still a superb body in terms of ergonomics and controls and the IQ is more than enough

ive got a pretty big collection of gear on the shelf right now, and if a thief were to come and clean em all out....the first thing i would do is head to the shop for another EM1
