The all in one self contained overall package "ability" of the G16 still makes me grab it more than most of my cameras - and if you saw all the cameras...

Proof is in what camera you want to grab when you walk out the door, not spec sheets or what not. Even my X30 doesn't get the attention my G16 does and I adore that camera too. Tools that work will often trump prettier tools when the rubber hits the road.

You got that right. Usually when I head out for the day I end up carrying the G16. When I travel I am usually using my m4/3 gear, but when I am just hanging out in the same place for a few months (like now) then I just want a camera with me all the time. I don't expect to see much new. The G16 is fairly small, hangs from my neck, or sometimes in the cargo pocket.

G16 external controls are pretty well thought out and I can see at a glance my settings. I have things set up so that my most used settings are in C1, C2 has some slightly different settings, and then if I switch to A it is just like C1 except I keep the aperture wide open at f1.8. I can see what I am set to, I can see what EC I have dialed in at a glance. I also have the front dial set to quickly adjust FL in the 28, 35, 50, 85, 100, and 140mm steps. That means while the camera is still down I can adjust EC if necessary, change the mode dial, and count the clicks for the FL without bringing the camera up and no one even notices. Then when ready, if necessary, I can quickly raise the camera to shoot.
