Re: Potential problem with my copy of DA16-85, image shifts in viewfinder

Eh, my experiences with both Nikon bodies and Sigma glass haven't been much better. I love the Pentax bodies and build quality, so I'll deal with this type of annoyance.

Third copy seems good so far. Was out shooting yesterday and aside from some softness at the extreme left border when wide open the image quality is top-notch. I'd place it a bit ahead of my 16-50 and leagues ahead of my old Sigma 17-70.

This is my 3rd copy of the lens. Video of the clicking noise on my second copy of the lens here:

I don't know how a camera company can survive foisting this kind of nonsense on its customers. Lenses with these kind of problems should never have got anywhere near the factory gates.

Yep it the grass is always greener !!

No manufacturer put more quality in than they can get away with for the market segment they're aiming at.

This because you can get away with a very wide window in cameras disadvantageous smaller manufacturers.

In the case of Canon/Nikon or Pentax then they build to similar standards but the bigger two don't get found out so often having a higher percentage of 'Holiday shooters'

i.e

If 10 people out of a 1000 notice they have issues then not much noise but if 10 out of a 100 then you get more exposure.

But that doesn't mean that 200/1000 and 20/100 weren't in reality outside what would be considered OK by the average photographer.
