Merrill Panoramas of Kamchatka
4

Dear Merrill Enthusiasts...

On a recent vacation in Kamchatka, Russia I used all my 3 Merrills
(and also my new Oly E-M5 MkII) for taking Panoramas. Needless
to say, I am very pleased with the results (especially with the Merrill
Panos of course!).

Here are small thumbs of two of the panoramas:

Tolbachik vulcano as seen from the 2013 vulcano cone. (30x2 DP3M)

The 2013 lava-flow with the Tolbachik and Gora Bol'shaya Udina in the background (18x1 DP2M)

For more of the Kamchatka Panoramas you can visit my website:

After the last Pano my DP1M started with a weird behavior: live view would
not work any more (black screen with info overlayed), but it would still take
photos and display them for reviewing! Reset and taking out the battery has
not yet fixed the problem. Luckily I bought a spare DP1M and after my
vacation I have now switched to the spare.
As I have a severe case of Merrillitis, the fact that the Merrills are getting
hard to come by (as noted by others in this forum), I am slowly getting
nervous about finding an adequate replacement...

I still have the ever so slight hope that Sigma will one day build a full-frame
Merrill sensor: A mirrorless camera with such a chip would be just about
perfect... alas one can dream!

Greetings,

Robert F. Tobler
