So I went to the Retrofestival yesterday in Newbury, Berkshire (UK). This is a festival for all things retro including cars, caravans, clothing music etc etc, you get the idea. The weather was great and although I took some m4/3's gear I ended up not using it, it was ideal for my Merrills so I also took the DP1M and DP3M.
On the DP1M I mounted the Ricoh GW-3 0.75 UWA adaptor which screws directly onto the DP1M filter thread and converts it from a 28mm to 21mm lens. It also comes with it's own rubber lens hood which is handy. Virtually all of the DP1M shots are done using this adaptor. I also like to shoot the DP3M wide open but at F2.8 the shutter speed tops out at 1/1250th second so I mounted a 52mm to 72mm adaptor ring and added my lightcraft cross fader variable ND filter. It looks a bit weird but it gives me total control of the light and I can happily shoot wide open no problem.
I had a blast shooting with these two cameras and despite the amount of people about I managed to get shots I was happy with. I loved the American cars on show and hats off to the people who look after these classics, some amazing examples on show. As always DPR mangles the quality, even if I link to these shots on flickr, the best quality can be seen here.

Just one last point, although the GW-3 very very slightly drops the resolution I can pretty much get identical results to what I can achieve without it by applying 0.3 sharpening in SPP. Also, if you look closely at the pinpoint specular hightlights on the chrome on some of these shots you still get the starburst effect even with the adaptor mounted, it's a cracking piece of kit that I wouldn't be without now.
