Re: Sigma 150-600 Contemporary focus test

I've been fine tuning my Sigma 150-600C iteratively. Although I used Reikan Focal to do some initial testing (focus fine tune, aperture sharpness, and checking for astigmatism) much of my tests for dialing in all of the respective focal lengths and distances have been with the DotTune method - just because it is fast and easy. For DotTune, I ended up using the Reikan target for all distances except for infinity.

I'm shooting primarily birds right now with this lens, so the distance and focal length combinations on the Dock are pretty essential - I'm primarily using the longer focal lengths at very short distances. In "lab" testing, my copy only needed adjustment at 600mm across all distances except infinity. I'm iteratively tweaking the settings in the field using DotTune (and by subsequently looking at the photographs).  Needless to say, I still need some adjustments at 600mm and short distances.

If you don't already have the dock, I would highly recommend it. If you are analytical and like testing, I would also recommend Reikan Focal software.

Good Luck!
