Thought I'd post some features from the Panasonic release of the new FZ300.

I am re reading it, after another post/thread I made mentioning the O.I.S.

DPReview comments right before the press release mentions only 2 axis O.I.S. for stills and 5 axis O.I.S. for video (but not 4K video). This is now unclear, since the actual press release words it differently

But, from Pannys own website they say this about the O.I.S. :

*5-Axis HYBRID O.I.S.+ (Optical Image Stabilizer Plus) reduces blur from one-handed video shooting by compensating for 5 types of movement. The Level Shot Function detects the horizon line and maintains it, even if the camera is tilted.

5-Axis HYBRID O.I.S. works in video recording except for 4K video recording.*

Just to clarify: Hybrid O.I.S. + appears to be something of an umbrella marketing term that covers distinct image stabilization mechanisms for both stills and video. For stills you get Power O.I.S. and for video you get corrections on additional axis which, based on other tidbits of information out there, seem to be wholly digital in nature.

The Panasonic OIS page seems to be AWOL at the moment, but here's an archive of it: https://web.archive.org/web/20131231202830/http://panasonic.net/avc/lumix/ois/index.html
