Re: Will you upgrade from GX7 to a GX8?

Yes I think I will. I will look at it next to a G7, when I can travel somewhere that has camera stores carrying MFT. The price difference is a factor but not the biggest one. The G7 wouldn't be a mistake I think, but GX8 seems to put a lot of improvements together in one package.
1. Big EVF I personally can really use the dramatically bigger EVF image for most shooting. Due to the reading glasses syndrome I generally have a hard time operating the camera buttons, menus and back screen without first donning the glasses, so working through the diopter-adjusted EVF avoids the problem. Plus I simply prefer finder viewing. I don't object to the GX7 finder, but the GX8 version will be much appreciated. And I like to use the GX7 finder with a slight tilt, GX8 will let me do that also.
2. Free-angle screen. There is now a specialized cult of hatred for this, but I like it very much. Per 1 above, I often would keep the screen inward-closed on the G1, 3, 5, and I miss that ability on GX7. The free-angle screen allows framing all kinds of useful strange angles, landscape or potrait. And using it as a touchpad controller while viewing with the EVF is now possible.
3. Interesting new IS technology. Despite perhaps not being fully optimized for Olympus or random MFT or adapted lenses, having some IS in there removes some doubt when considering, say, the excellent Olympus 75. And it'll be exciting to try the full Hybrid IS with suitable lenses. Disappointing though that the 100-300 can't use it; I've almost bought that lens a few times but now I think I shouldn't.
4. Bigger but let's not exaggerate (fruitless request on the internet, I know...and already headlined as "big beast" by our hosts here). The camera is notably wider and taller than GX7, but perhaps that one is just a bit small with its grip too close to the lens. Not at all an issue when holding it, probably a benefit, but not as good for carrying. The GX7 drops nicely, lens-down, into some very small bags (e.g. Mirrorless Mover 5); GX8 might need to be coaxed in or demand a bigger bag.
5. Overall no apparent letdowns - That is, for me. I essentially never use the built-in flashes; people look awful in direct-flash pictures, and bounce or fill-in methods need more power anyway. Latest sensor, AF, new IS, now really works pretty well for sports/moving subjects.
