Respect! I was not 100% serious here. My perception is that in the past, programmers could move faster, now we have to depend on a million of ever-changing libraries containing a trillion bugs, follow gazillion procedures...  

Wifi is radio, it is already in the products, it has potential for offering additional features, such as having the software match AOV or DOF between two mismatched lenses or sensors, and to display live view from multiple cameras simultaneously - wouldn't you like to be able to free-view side-by-side stereo pairs created from two-camera live-views? or even more cameras on a tablet?

Absolutely! I think the app from Sony should handle AOV of devices by setting the zoom, DOF may be trickier to implement. From the docs, previews from multiple cameras are already available in the app. Side-by-side stereo pair live views are probably not available in the app from Sony, but an app that offers that could be coded... Nice idea anyway, do you mean something like Oculus Rift as a view finder?

From my further attempts wrestling with the multi-camera control procedure on the QXs, it seems like it is going to require that I unregister the cameras from the android device, and then re-register them using a slightly different procedure. The programmer-remnants and tech-support-remnants in me are highly suspicious of this. I may try this today, or I may wait for a clean android device due tomorrow.

Yes, I think that's because the connection is reversed, the new QXs can now connect to a smartphone hotspot in addition to the older/simpler way of allowing smartphone connections to the hotspots the cameras have built in.

Please take your time. In my case i will not be upgrading my gear anytime soon anyway...
