The Age-Old Question From An Old Fogey-ess

Hi Everyone,

This is my first post in this forum. I usually hang out with the Powershot folks. But, I need some advice from the experts here.

I have wanted a DSLR since Canon first came out with the Rebel. Circumstances, and finances, got in the way, and I was never able to afford one.

I have a Kodak z990, a Canon SX50, and a Canon Elph 330. The 330 is my go everywhere camera. I have an opportunity to get either an SL1, or a T3i, for nearly the same price. The SL1 comes with an 18-55 STM kit lens, and the T3i comes with both an 18-55 IS II, and a 55-250 IS II lenses.

I'm kind of leaning towards the SL1 with one lens, and buying a second lens later. I did the camera side-by-side comparison on here, and it doesn't seem like there's that much difference between the two cameras. I just mostly use my cameras for shots of my dogs, landscapes, and my grandchildren. Yes, I have grandchildren. I'll be 65 in a couple of months. That's why I want to get my long-wanted Rebel while I'm still able to use one.

If you all have stuck to the end of this novel, I'm hoping you can give an old lady a helping hand with her decision.
