Canon T5 ( 1200D ) mistake to purchase?

Hi

I am knew to this forum... Purchased a Canon T5 with kit lens for $420.00 canadian ( $332.00 US dollars )

Most reviews on this camera state it is poor choice compared to Nikon D3300 or Sony A5000 mirrorless camera.

I could never get used to using lcd screen to take photos and do not like evf viewfinders. If the Sony A5000 had a hot shoe to add optional viewfinder, I would have purchased it as it was available for $399.00 canadian with kit lens.

I used to have a Nikon D600 with a couple of prime lenses but sold it due to finance problems. I started to dislike Nikon lenses due to a lot of plastic construction and most being made in china with exception of AF-S Nikkor 24mm f1.4, AF-S 35mm f1.4 , and AF-S 58mm f1.4.

Canon 24mm f/2.8 IS USM is made in Japan, Canon 28mm f/2.8 IS USM made in Japan, Canon EF EOS 35mm f/1.4 L made in Japan, Canon EF 40mm f/2.8 STM made in Made in Malaysia etc So to me Canon has made better lenses in general. Of course is money was not a issue I be buying Leica T and lenses.

Lenses in general are more important than camera bodies in general.

At the price point I purchased the Canon T5, other options in compacts in same price range would have much smaller sensors.

So was my choice a good choice ?

Dan
