Thanks Brian - to be honest, the IQ never was going to be the issue - it is a shame that the very latest sensor tech didn`t go into this Sony sensor - if it was the latest BSI design , it`d be 2 stops cleaner no doubt but the EM5`s sensor isn`t much diff from the 16Mp APS-C ones at high ISOs once you use a 3rd party RAW converter (Compared to a NEX6 or Fuji XE1) and they`ve done as much as they could have otherwise to the EM5-II I feel .
there don`t seem to be many bad choices, I do fear for the weathersealing of that Pathetic port flap (this is no E1 for sure - THAT was sealed !! if anyone remembers), the eyecup is barely any better than what`s on the tiny GM5 (err, nothing), the front dial really is a bit too easy to turn and no it`s not ticked the 4K box (even with a seriously compromised version like the NX500), 4K is good for Phone quality action snaps ...
What it`s done for me is combine the best of the EM5 & 10 (that sony sensor) with the updates the EM1 got (AF points, 2X2, EVF, loadsa func buttons, WIFI, better build etc) , the bits which previously made a Panasonic needed as a second body (Decent video, E-Shutter, 16,000th sec) , Added one of the fave bits of my G1X MK1 (Twisty screen) -- added the best IBIS out there, the Quietest and least shocky standard Mech-shutter out there , improved the setup options AND gave me a neat little flash for my GM5 ............ due to all this , work wise all I need my GM5 for is backup now - I don`t need it to fill in gaps - I`ll enjoy that for my own use now .
I've found that turning in camera jpg sharpening and noise reduction to zero then post processing in LR CC to bring up the needed levels of sharpness is giving pretty good results from the LSF JPG files
So far I rate it mine the best of the EM family for my use
