I haven't really noticed it before but the second glass inside (starting from the mount-side) is moving freely when I tilt the lens unmounted. It focuses fine and zoom is good. However, the LCD/Viewfinder will flicker if I turn the zoom ring while trying to focus. Is this normal? I fear that my 2 year old son might have damaged it when he got in my camera bag. I recently updated my X-T1 to v4.0 as well so I can't remember it happening before (firmware bug??). Any help is appreciated!

Try this....

Attach the lens to a camera, turn the camera on and try tilting the lens again.
If it stops making the noise whist on the camera under power then what you are hearing is the AF system moving whilst it is not under power and is totally normal. You should hear it on the 50-140, sounds like the entire lens is falling to pieces inside it!  Only seems to happen on the larger lenses with the linear AF motors.
