Re: To those with both EM5-II and EM1

I have both models.

E-M1 Pros:

  • Significantly better grip than E-M5MkII + HLD-8.
  • Faster startup time.
  • Significantly better C-AF
  • Marginally better battery endurance (2.75 hrs vs 2.5 hrs per pack).

E-M5 MkII Pros:

  • Removable grip takes up less space in pocket (great for theater).
  • Silent shutter (great for theater work).
  • Swivel LCD is handy for some macro shots.
  • Better video
  • Hi Res Mode
  • Marginally better stabilization

Summary: I shoot a great deal of sports/action using C-AF, therefore the E-M1 is my primary camera - no contest. With the E-M5 MkII using the same battery as the E-M1, it has displaced the E-M10 as my second choice and is my first choice for theater work.

Note: Video and hi-res modes don't interest me much.
