Re: Nice, but something missing...
I agree with your frustrations, but I too am very happy with the camera a big step up from my M1.
I have a couple of tips for you, my HTC One phone has an IR blaster and I have downloaded an app to allow me to do time lapses.
If that does not work for you since it is quite an investment if you already have a phone. You can by a simple remote control online from E B A Y for example for a few quid. You can also buy an intervalometer from the same place now I know you can't get one for the EOS M but just buy any old one they are pretty similar mine cost about a tenner. Now for the clever bit... crack open the IR remote and solder 2 wires onto the PCB to test it works by shorting the wires together If you have done it correctly you should be able to actuate the IR remote without pressing the button my one already had solder points on the board but if yours does not just follow the circuit and work out how to extend the button.
Next cut the plug off the intervalometer you might need a multimeter for this but strip the wires and work out which pins connect when the button is pressed. This took me a few minutes to work out basically there is a focus line that shorts for a few seconds then another shutter release that connects for a shorter period just when the timer says it is time to take the shot.
Once you have worked out which wire is which it should be a simple question of connecting the wires together.
Did this for my Nikon D50 years ago and it has served me well. Just waiting for my parts to arrive from HK then will put one together for my Cannon.
Can send you some pics of the operation if required. Give it a go it really is quite easy!
