I have been having issues with this combo lately. Sometimes the AF just does not work. At all. I first though it was because I was taking pictures on lit stages with difficult light but at the weekend I found that a lot of shots outside in perfect lighting failed.
It just does nothing - it will not acquire target - sometimes just will not try and thus will not allow the shutter button to be pressed.
I tried swapping the lens onto my EM-10 body and it was fine, and also faster to focus with stage lighting. Also the 12-40mm on the E-M1 body has never had a single issue, so I am thinking that it is not a contacts issue - anyone else had a problem?
Check your firmware version on the camera. There was a fairly recent update to firmware to address focus issues with the 40-150mm.
And as long as the manual focus ring is not accidently engaged, the AF on mine works perfectly, but if you accidently had the MF ring engaged, yes, AF performance can be terrible, LOL....
Well, yes. There is that
