Re: 750/760D CR2 files
My guess is that ACDsee will soon update the supported camera capability. I am not sure what Adobe will do with updating. Abode is trying to push everyone to a monthly fee and services through the "cloud." Apparently they have decided not to update my Photoshop Elements 11 version. Nor does it appear that the most current version 13 has been updated. Apparently they want to sell all of us Elements users a newer version, yet to be released. I have no idea what they will do with the stand alone versions of Photoshop or Lightroom. I also found and tried the free DNG converter. That does work but I certainly have no interest in long term support for DNG files. After converting to DNG, I would need an additional step to convert to Tiff. A year ago I converted all of my Photoshop files to Tiff format so I am no longer dependent on Adobe.
This whole fiasco turned out to be a blessing in disguise. I tried the DNG converter, opened the DNG files in Elements and saved as Tiffs. I compared with Tiff files I saved from DPP4. I was blown away when I compared the results. The Tiff files from DPP4 were even at first glance much better. The colors were better but even more striking was noise reduction. The DPP4 noise reduction is outstanding and permits removing heavy noise without killing the details. This is especially helpful for high ISO shots but also is important for any shot with details in dark shadow. DPP4 is way better than the older version. The shadows and highlights sliders also provide excellent results. DPP4 also includes complete corrections for any of your Canon lenses. Thanks to Adobe's greed, I have found that DPP4 is powerful software and I will have no further need to use Adobe Camera Raw.
