Sure, but our beloved M22/2 is no speed demon either.
Absolutely nothing against them at all. Last 4 phones have been Samsung. Great bits of kit. But their cameras do absolutely nothing for me. Played with a few in stores, but just zero connection happening. Picked up a 100D/SL1, loved it. Played with Pentax, great handling & featured cams. Im waiting to see what the SL2 brings to the table.
This is EXACTLY how I feel. My brain love the Samsung NX platform. It make the most sense logically, and has the 28mm~30mm pacake prime that I want (22mm is too wide, and 35mm too narrow). But somehow it lack the je ne sais quoi Desirability. I cannot put my finger on it, somehow, Samsung NX camera just feel....Cheap like a point/shoot. The only Samsung that feel good is the NX1, but it is pricey.
I'm struggle to make sense of this myself. Canon SL1 is a poor choice coming from M:
1. Same 18mp sensor (so it not an upgrade): high iso is just as noisy
2. Same Battery, I find M battery life rather POOR
3. SL1 isn't build as nicely as M (which feel like a Tank)
4. I prefer using 3" LCD live view over OVF or EVF.
Yet, I smile everytime when I hold a Canon SL1 in my hand. There is something about SL1 that I really like. The only thing missing is a 28mm f/1.8 STM or a 30mm f/1.8 STM pancake lens.
I hold a 70D and I get an uplifting feeling of holding a beautiful, highly evolved, polished, robust and supremely fast and competent tool. The efs 24/2.8 gives me the same satisfaction as the efm 22/2. I don't remember being this happy with a camera.
