Short review G7X (in comparisation with RX100m1)
3
The camera is well build and feels very sturdy, I find it easier to hold and manipulate the camera without grip in comparisation with the RX100 (slippery design). I like the EV-compensation dial, easier menu's (maybe because I'm more used to the canon menustructure) , bigger buttons and switches and the touchscreen for changing the focus point.
The IS on the G7X is very effective (practically none existent on RX100)
The colors are better with the canon special for portraits, but that can be easely tweaked in camera with both camera's.
IQ is great by both camera's, 24mm on G7X is a plus over 28mm RX100, for landscape pictures I find it best to use F5.6(personal) in daylight.
AF-speed on G7X is fast in daylight (one of the fastest canon's I have) and in the same league of the sony, but when the light drops the AF-speed drops (but that is by every compact camera so I suppose).
I like also that there is with the G7X an external charger in the box (don't like USB-charging or put your camera on the ground when charging with that adapter), also better when you have 2 or more battery's to charge.
On the other hand the original canon NB-13L battery is very expensive (70€), the original sony BX battery is much cheaper (40€).
With the G7X I can take aprox. 300 pictures with one battery (without using the flash), the RX100 is better in that regard.
I choose the G7X over the RX100m3 mainly because of the price difference (200€) and the fact that I was very curious about that camera (already have an RX100) . Maybe the RX100m3 is a bit sharper at 24mm, but not so at 100mm
A new happy owner here.
