I've long used DPP to convert Canon RAW files, then Photoshop CS2 for additional processing. I feel no need to upgrade that version of Photoshop. For some problem images, for example very underexposed, I find that DxO provides better and easier RAW conversions that DPP. But I see no reason to use Adobe products to convert RAW files.

I would love to see some sort of scientific study, but it seems to me that DPP does a better job of converting raw files.  Anyway I am happy with the noise reduction.  Photoshop works for dodge and burn and dealing with layers, blending and extensive processing and manipulation...when needed or desired.  Qimage is a printing program but I use it for sharpening.  It has the most powerful sharpening tool I have seen and can sharpen  without introducing any halos or other artifacts.
