I understand your way of comparison, but is thar really fair overfor a Pro lens? Why not challange the audience?

Or, at the very least, challenge their wallets?

Henry Ford said: “If I had asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses.”

I personally despise the "deification" of the likes of Ford and Edison with all the tired quotes supposedly attributed to them in order to build up their legends, when they were by most accounts rather unpleasant people. In any case, I doubt that people would have wanted "faster horses" because horses have other physiological limitations such as limits to their endurance - indeed, stuff that people can't stop pointing out with electric cars today - with which many of Ford's audience would actually have been rather familiar.

I'm sure the "pro" lens is great, but it is also bigger, heavier and more expensive. Meanwhile, people reading a headline rating of 2 or so stars will think that the "cheap" 40-150 is terrible when it is actually fairly decent. Time is then wasted all around.
