Thanks, this is very helpful. So are you saying the 12-32 lens is incompatible with the g7 and all other dslr style bodies? If that is the case it seems the only way to have a truly portable setup with any kind of zoom would be to go for a different camera body such as the gx7, and lose 4k. Thoughts?

The 12-32 is compatible with the G7 but there are two problems when operating on bigger bodies.

1. The 12-32 is designed to be used on a rangefinder style body, because the lens is small, in theory so does the camera because it's a pancake zoom afterall.

2. I don't know how everyone else zoom but pretend the zoom ring is a clock. I have my index finger on at 12 and my thumb is a 6. Holding the zoom ring in this fashsion can give me maximum flexiability and I can zoom very fast.

The G and the GH series has a rigde above the lens mount, and because the 12-32 is so small, the ridge obstructing the user zooming correctly. What worst is the 12-32 need a good twist for the lens to be unlock and zoomable. The best way to do that is to put the index finger on 9 and the thumb on 3(clock face). Zooming in this fashion is not the most comforting way of zooming and you're not get the full motion of zooming either

In my opinion get the G7 and make sure you have a decent telephoto zoom to go with it.
